Random string of events :)
Probably about two months ago, I was really depressed about myself being unemployed and receiving almost no responses after sending like 20+ resumes out. I was just reflecting on how I should have worked harder in college… I tend to always take things for granted and never really tried that hard for anything. I did a few phone interviews but I never heard a reply…but a month ago, I received an e-mail from this tech start-up that I did a phone interview for asking me to answer these questions. I actually had no idea what I applied to in the beginning but I knew I was interested in working for a start-up. I did a little more research about this company and I saw that they give employees a complimentary gym membership and I’m like I LIKE THIS COMPANY. Haha… but then I continued doing my research and the company was very interesting and definitely growing a lot. Its a social marketing company that has strong ties with Facebook and utilizes Facebook to advertise customers’ campaign through sweepstakes, contests, and coupons. Aside from that, the company culture was the most unique… to me, it sounded like DSP. People that you work hard and play hard with. Definitely a huge plus!!! :DDD
To sum it up, I interviewed for the staff accountant position, didn’t get it even though they liked me cause I didn’t have enough background in accounting. I was really really sad but thank goodness to Hawaii, it cheered me up. To top if off, I received a random call from Wildfire, the company I interviewed for, and asked if I was interested in another position that they have just been created and since they really liked me from the previous interview, they wanted to let me interview first for it. Of course I told them I was in Hawaii but we worked out a phone interview before I got on the plane and arranged an in-person interview the morning after and gave me an offer an hour later and suggested to reimburse my flight cancellation fee for hong kong!!!
Definitely a random string of events. I went from sad to excited to depressed to EVEN MORE EXCITED. I definitely got lucky this time… it just so happened that I stumbled upon this job and with a little bit of hardwork and with the correct timing, I got it. I’m so happy. I definitely would work harder than ever and not take this for granteddddd.
